How to use Loan Calculator India

On LoanWala India (calculatoremi.in), this EMI calculator serves Indian users comparing personal, home, and vehicle loan EMIs. All-purpose loan EMI calculator for Indian borrowers. India (.in) multi-loan EMI education with rupee framing.

How EMI is calculated

EMI (Equated Monthly Installment) is the fixed amount you pay every month toward a loan. It covers both principal repayment and interest for that month.

Standard reducing-balance EMI uses: EMI = [P × R × (1+R)^N] / [(1+R)^N − 1], where P is the loan amount, R is the monthly interest rate (annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100), and N is the tenure in months.

Worked example

For a ₹10,00,000 loan at 8.5% p.a. for 20 years: monthly rate R ≈ 0.007083 and N = 240. The EMI is about ₹8,678, with total interest far exceeding a shorter tenure at the same rate.

Use the calculator above to change amount, rate, or years and instantly see monthly EMI, total interest, and total amount payable.

Tips to lower your EMI burden

A longer tenure lowers EMI but raises total interest. A shorter tenure raises EMI but usually saves interest.

Compare lender rates, check processing fees, and consider part-prepayment when surplus cash is available—always review prepayment charges first.

Choosing among Indian loan types

Home, personal, and vehicle loans differ in tenure, security, and rate bands—always match the calculator inputs to the product you are quoting.

Use INR figures and confirm GST or stamp-related costs outside the pure EMI math.

Commonly Asked Questions

Our loan calculator uses the reducing balance method, which is standard in India. It calculates your monthly EMI based on the loan amount, interest rate, and tenure. The calculator shows your monthly EMI, total interest payable, and total amount to be repaid over the loan tenure.

Common documents required include: identity proof (Aadhaar, PAN), address proof, income proof (salary slips, IT returns), bank statements, employment certificate, and property documents (for secured loans). Requirements vary by lender and loan type.

To improve loan eligibility: maintain a good credit score (750+), show stable income, reduce existing debt, provide a larger down payment, add a co-applicant with good credit, and choose a longer tenure to reduce EMI burden.

Fixed rates remain constant throughout the loan tenure, providing predictable EMIs. Floating rates change with market conditions (linked to MCLR or repo rate), which can increase or decrease your EMI. Most Indian loans offer floating rates, which are typically lower initially.
